RE: Seneca - Dust in Cabin

Try a Fantastik fan on the "in" setting....positive pressure works great. This has solved all of my dusty pots and pans problems.
If there is dust flying all around you, aren't you just going to be bringing dusty outside air INSIDE the coach?????:?
That's why you want to use the blower fan in the cab. It brings air in from the front of the chassis before the wheels kick up the dust. Of course, if there's someone in front of you kicking up dust then there's not a lot you can do...

RE: Roadside Assistance

Actually, GM will cover the towing for the first 3 years (assuming they stay in business)...
The Owner's Manual says that the roadside assistance is only during the "base warranty period". According to the Warranty Manual, that is 2 years, not 3 years. At least that's what it was for the 2005 chassis.

I've seen Coach-Net recommended more than any of the other services and that's what I have.
I'm surprised your new coach did not come with a year of service...

RE: Anyone Self-Installed Front Shocks on a Kodiak?

For me, it was very much worth the effort. Even with the cost of a couple of wrenches that I bought, I saved $150 or so on installation costs. Yes, it took some time, but I also gained some experience in how the rig is put together. :)

RE: Anyone Self-Installed Front Shocks on a Kodiak?

I did the rear shocks by myself and had to use a small auto scissors jack and a block of wood to compress the shock to align the holes for the lower bolt.
I had help from my son-in-law for the front shocks. Those were pre-compressed and held by a heavy-duty tie band. I cut the band while he positioned the shock to align the posts while it expanded. On the second one, we weren't careful and the bushing fell off the shaft when we cut it, so we couldn't get it in before it expanded. We then put one end in and one of us compressed it while the other one aligned the other end for insertion.

RE: Part numbers for Bilstein shocks ?

This document from the Bilstein website has the info you need.
I'm not so sure about that. He's asking about a 2007. That sheet lists "2004-____". The part numbers shown are what I used on my 2005 chassis. I think there may have been a change around 2006-2007 to the rear shocks.
In reviewing my old notes, I think the rear MAY have changed from BE5-C254-H0 to BE5-A434-M0, but you should check this with some other source.

RE: Had a fire yesterday

The recalls are on much older models.
What brand is the fridge? You should have been given the paperwork on it from Jayco.
We should all make note of this.
"Much Older models"? Dometic extended the current recall and it includes current models. My 2007 is under the current recall as was my 2003 model as well.
From Dometic:
"Dometic recently expanded its recall on a population of two-door refrigerators. The original recall included some two-door refrigerators manufactured between April 1997 and May 2003. The recent expansion of this recall now includes the same two-door refrigerators, manufactured between June 2003 and September 2006."
Read more at the Dometic recall web page.

RE: Anybody put a K&N filter on their Kodiak?

Somewhere along the way, I wrote in my notes that my 2005 8.1L Kodiak uses either of these air filters:
AC Delco = A1518C
GM = 25313349
I have not confirmed these numbers, however.

RE: 2007 C5500 endura fuse panel location?

If you are talking about 12V outlets in your coach body rather than those in the chassis cab, my guess would be they are powered by your coach battery and go through a fuse box in your coach, not the ones in the C5500.
My 2006 Gulf Stream C5500 Ultra, which is very similar to their Endura, has a 12V fuse panel near floor-level below the fridge. It uses standard automotive fuses.

RE: 2008 Seneca 34SS Price Quote

Does any know the true markup on the Jayco motorhomes? Has anyone gotten better than 35%? 40%?
I had a dealer tell me they would special order me a Jayco Greyhawk and they were making 8% on the deal. My discount was 32% off MSRP. So, unless there are other incentives for so many units ordered at one time or something, I would say that MSRP is dealer invocie plus 40%.
Your math is off. Let's say for example purposes that the MSRP was $100,000. You paid $68,000. If the dealer made 8% over his cost when you paid that amount, then his cost was $62,560. So the $100,000 MSRP is a 60% markup from the "dealer invoice" of $62,560. Going the other way, the "dealer invoice" of $62,560 is 37% off of the MSRP of $100,000.

RE: 2008 Seneca 34SS Price Quote

30% off has been a good deal in years past, if it is a true MSRP and not a dealer's inflated price sheet.
With the RV market the way it is right now, though, steep price cuts may be more readily available than previously.

RE: KODIAK FUEL CAPACITY

I have a 2007 Gulf Stream Conquest Super C built on the Kodiak Chasis with the Chevy (C55000 8.1 vortex engine). I just filled up when the gas gauge was just about showing 1/2 full. It took 44 gallons. GS says that I have an 80 gal. tank. My biggest problem is that it takes forever to fill, as the pump keeps shuting off. This happens whether I hold the pump or put it on automatic....
IMO, I think it just has a poor vent system. Here's my take: The large fuel fill line goes into the side of the tank several inches down from the top. Once the fuel level gets higher than that, the displaced air in the tank has to go out through a small hose that comes out the top of the tank. I haven't traced that hose, but I suspect that it goes to some fuel vapor canister somewhere. In mine, you can't get enough air through that vent system once the fuel gets up that high to keep up with even the slowest steady fill rate from a gas pump. So therefore the last 20 gallons is just trickle-pump, stop, trickle-pump, stop, trickle-pump, stop, trickle-pump, stop, trickle-pump, stop, etc.

RE: Kodiak 8.1 heavy towing fuel mileage?

I've got a 2006 GS 6316 with the 8.1L. Running ~65 mph in flat country I get around 7.5 mpg. Towing a 3,000 lb Honda Civic at 65 mph, I get around 6.8 mpg.

RE: KODIAK FUEL CAPACITY

Here's my reply to your post on the GS owner forum...
Overhead in the driver's seat there should be a sticker with the build codes of installed equipment when it left GM. Here are the fuel tank codes --
N23 - 40 Gallons
NG6 - 40 Gallons
NH4 - 40 Gallons
NH5 - 60 Gallons
NJ9 - 80 Gallons
NN4 - 60 Gallons
Or you can crawl under there and read it off the side of the tank.
My 2006 Ultra C5500 has an 80-gallon tank, but you have to be very patient to get 80 gallons into it. First fuel cutoff is about 60 gallons, then you can trickle in another 20 gallons. I think the tank vent system is poor.
Also, the fuel gage is not very accurate on mine. If I have a full tank, the fuel gage will not drop off the full position until I've driven 150 miles or more -- at least 20 gallons down.
I get about 7.5 mpg at 65 mph in flat country. Towing a 2002 Honda Civic, I get about 6.5 to 7.0 mpg. I can figure on driving 400 miles or so on a (really full) tank with about 20 gallons to spare.
IMO, your expection of up to 650 miles on a tank is unrealistic and has nothing to do with the price you paid for the vehicle. If your dealer told you you would get 10 mpg with this truck, he was either lying or very misinformed. My salesman told me I would get 7.5 mpg and that's what I'm getting. If I ran the tank dry, that would be no more than 600 miles, but doing that is neither prudent nor safe.
